The Jumping flame
(Blackstone, 1946)
The magician lights two matches. He blows one out and holds it just beneath the flame of the other. Immediately the lower match lights itself.
To work this trick successfully, hold the lighted match above the unlighted one immediately after the later has been blown out. a tiny smoke stream will rise from the extinguished match. The flame of the upper match catches this stream, follow it down and relights the lower match almost instantly.
